Hexagon Park | Bolton

A long-term vision for employment, opportunity and sustainable growth

Strategic Map

Welcome and Background

Hexagon Park (formerly known as West of Wingates) is a strategic employment hub in Westhoughton, Bolton which could create up to 6,000 new jobs over the next 10-15 years. The site is located to the south of the A6 Chorley Road and to the west of the existing Wingates Industrial Estate, close to Junction 6 of the M61.

CGI of Hexagon Park

The site already has planning consent for 73,750 sq m of logistics and manufacturing space and we have already started work on site, with the construction of ecology areas, improvements to the A6 Chorley Road, and earthworks across the consented phase.

We have also gained reserved matters consent for the first five employment buildings on the site, which gives us the required consent to begin the construction of the buildings themselves.

Hexagon Park is also allocated under the adopted Places for Everyone – Greater Manchester Spatial Plan (known as West of Wingates within the plan) as a location to deliver 440,000 sq m of employment space. Following the adoption of the Places for Everyone – Greater Manchester Spatial Plan – Harworth has been working with Bolton Council to develop a strategic masterplan for the wider Wingates site.

Following consultation, this document (the West of Wingates Strategic Masterplan Supplementary Planning Document (‘SPD’)) was adopted in June 2026 and will now form a material consideration in future planning decisions at the site, and guide development to ensure it comes forwards in a cohesive manner across the allocation. The SPD is available here. You can find out more about existing and future planning applications for the site here.
